Different People, Same Place
Different People, Same Place was a research project that explored the effects on and attitudes of different communities to changes in a shared physical environment. Due to the nuances of the project, the research team asked us to create a one-page illustration that could be used as a guide for participants.
With the research team, we devised a set of scenes that could conceivably evoke different emotions in different individuals or groups. For example, gentrification and development could be seen as a positive thing for people who like the new shops, but others might miss their local shops that were there before.
We chose to render the illustrations in a plain style that would be easy to see and understand for the participants. Then we added thought bubbles to indicate what the different characters might be thinking about and their attitude to the situation.
